I Want Google+ To Replace My Blog

2011-08-29,

As is obvious, I haven't updated this area with any new posts since I started school last year. I've been too busy with classes, research projects, and a summer internship with Google, which was way awesome. I'll be posting about my school research projects as they get nearer to publication.

For now, I just feel like making a quick point. While I was interning this summer, Google+ happened. It was a really fun time to be working with the company.

There's a ton of potential for innovation in the Google+ ecosystem, especially for third parties. What I would like to see eventually is all of my Google+ public posts scraped and streamed onto a page like this, on a web site that I own.

I would certainly have a much easier time generating posts, plus I would have the added benefit of audience interactivity. I'm sure WordPress will come out with some sort of widget if they haven't already, but I like my web site to be under my complete control, as most developers would.

If nobody steps up and makes this, I might have to do so myself.

Update 2015-03-25:

They did it! The feature is called "Embedded Posts", launched some time around mid-2013.
